Blogs in Education

Pedablogue is Professor Michael Arnzen's "Personal Inquiry into the Scholarship of Teaching," and one of the best blogs on issues concerning teaching and technology. In typical blog fashion, Arnzen links to blogs with a similar focus, including Edublognews.com/, Teachnology.org/, and Weblogg-ed.com/. I like Arnzen's approach the best because each of his posts is a thoughtful essay, many of them addressing real challenges facing university instructors, such as "Taking Notes in the Dark" and "Recommendaing without Reservation."

Dennis Jerz

One of Arnzen's colleagues at Seton Hill University, Dennis Jerz, incorporates blogs into the writing and literature classes he teaches, thus encouraging his students to respond publicly to Jerz's in-class comments and lectures as well as to his blogging assignments.
